A short drive from Las Vegas -- or a nice side trip on the way to or from the Valley of Fire -- Lost City Museum in Overton pays homage to Nevada's natural and cultural heritage, and provides a glimpse into the history of the Moapa Valley area.
  Built in 1935 by the National Park Service, the museum houses artifacts excavated with the assistance of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Pueblo Grande de Nevada, an Anasazi Indian site. This site and others like it were threatened -- and some lost -- due to the waters of Lake Mead as it backed up behind the Hoover Dam, which was constructed between 1931 and 1936. 
  The museum was constructed on an actual prehistoric Pueblo site and the building itself is made from sun-dried adobe brick. Reconstructed Anasazi pueblos are also featured on site.
